MANUAL HANDLING UPDATE COURSE FOR ALL STAFF
THIS COURSE IS INTENDED FOR:
Staff members who require refresher training in manual handling.
COURSE CONTENT:
Principles of Safe Lifting and the Economy of Effort, Ways of
Avoiding Spinal Injuries, Lifting and Handling Techniques.
The course can be tailored to reflect the working environment
within the work place.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
On completion of the course candidates will be able to:
- Confirm principles behind safe manual handling of loads.
- Lift, carry and lower all heavy loads within their personal capacity, using aids or assistance as necessary.
- State the parts of the body which are at risk of injury when lifting incorrectly and the possible injuries that may occur as a result.
- Suggest ways in which tasks involving the lifting and moving of heavy loads can be achieved safely and with minimum effort.
- Maintain the improvements made in their manual handling skills
